Stanford Beguiles Toronto
Friday, May 28th , 1976
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Toronto Hurons as starter Larry Stanford shut them out, 6-0, at Queens Field. The New York pitcher struck out 6 and walked 3 while allowing 2 hits.
"Stanford was good but he wasn't flawless," Toronto manager Jim Burns said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from New York, but this is on us."
In 11 starts this season, Stanford has picked up 7 wins while suffering 2 losses. He has pitched 87.1 innings, allowed 63 hits, struck out 56 and posted a 2.47 ERA.
