Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Rick Haun said his club's tilt with the Twin Cities Northmen "felt almost like batting practice." The 23-year-old shortstop went a remarkable 5-for-8 at the plate.

"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.

However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the New York Empires, who were topped by the Northmen, 6-3.

"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Empires manager Dan Whiting said. "Sometimes Rick is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-8 and lose than go 0-for-8 and lose."

Rick Haun flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th, doubled in the 13th and flied out in the 15th.

For the year, Haun is batting .310 with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
