ABL Picks Rookie of the Month Wednesday, June 1st , 1966 Throwing with confidence is the hardest thing for a rookie to pull off, but thanks to Detroit's pitching coaches, Jim Bryant has been able to gain confidence in surprisingly little time. The 23-year-old is new to the American Baseball League, but that didn't prevent him from putting up numbers good enough to win the Rookie of the Month in May. In 5 starts he notched 4 wins and 1 loss, 35 strikeouts in 39 innings and registered an impressive 3.46 ERA last month. This year Bryant has compiled a 4-1 mark with a 3.46 ERA in 5 starts. |
