Bobcats, Scherf Silence Washington, 2-0
Tuesday, June 1st , 1976
The Washington Eagles manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Cleveland Bobcats. The Eagles were overpowered by Cleveland starter Roger Scherf, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Brandon Tucker said.

Over 9 innings, Scherf blanked Washington on 5 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Scherf said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

So far this year, Scherf has a 4-1 record with a 2.82 ERA.
