Drillers, Bilski Silence Toronto, 4-0
Tuesday, June 21st , 1977
The Toronto Hurons were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the Houston Drillers and hurler Larry Bilski. Bilski kept the Hurons confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Bilski," Toronto manager Jim Burns said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 28-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Bilski said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
Checking out his stats for the year, Bilski has racked up 7 wins and 4 losses in 16 starts, posted a 3.85 ERA, and struck out 106 batters in 119.1 innings.
