Fredrick, on Top of His Game, Beats Toronto, 5-0
Sunday, July 25th , 1976
The Toronto Hurons manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Baltimore Lords. The Hurons were overpowered by Baltimore starter John Fredrick, who hurled his club to victory, 5-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Jim Burns said.
Over 9 innings, Fredrick blanked Toronto on 7 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Fredrick said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 15 starts this year, Fredrick has recorded a 5-8 record and a 3.32 ERA.
