Palmer Batters Philadelphia Big Time Friday, June 21st , 1974 Cincinnati left fielder Glenn Palmer had a big day at Roman Arena against the Philadelphia Quakers. The 31-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 8-0 Packers triumph over Philadelphia. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Palmer said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Glenn Palmer singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Frank Rudin in the 8th.
