Juarez Sparkles in 5-0 Blanking of Chicago
Saturday, July 6th , 1974
The Chicago Hawks were almost helpless in their 5-0 loss to the San Francisco Seagulls and hurler Ramon Juarez. Juarez kept the Hawks confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Juarez," Chicago manager Mike Flaherty said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 32-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Juarez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
For the season, Juarez has compiled a 9-6 record with a 3.01 ERA.
