5 Hits for Hurons Hinojosa
Friday, August 20th , 1976
It was almost a perfect day for Roberto Hinojosa.
The Toronto second baseman displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Hurons lost to the San Francisco Seagulls, 12-11. Hinojosa told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."
Toronto manager Jim Burns told the beat writers otherwise.
"There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."
Roberto Hinojosa doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
This season, Hinojosa is batting .292 with 131 hits, 1 home run, 24 RBIs, .346 OBP and has scored 60 runs.
