Shurtleff Dominates Houston
Friday, August 20th , 1976
Bruce Shurtleff was in a mood to talk following the Boston Terriers contest against the Houston Drillers, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Drillers, 8-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Shurtleff said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The left-hander blanked Houston on a 3-hitter, allowing 2 walks and racking up 5 strikeouts.
For the season, Shurtleff has a record of 5 wins and 14 losses in 28 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.08 and has fanned 149 batters in 199 innings.
