Eagles Long Smacks 5 Hits Saturday, August 21st , 1976 The Washington Eagles tripped up the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-3. The Eagles were led by Gary Long, their 32-year-old shortstop. Long made life miserable for Los Angeles pitchers all day, tagging them for 5 hits in 7 at-bats. Gary Long hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 10th, struck out in the 12th and hit a solo-shot off Tucker Atwood in the 14th.
