Great Stroke: Cassill Gets 5 Hits
Saturday, August 21st , 1976
The Washington Eagles stopped the Los Angeles Blockbusters by a score of 4-3 at Monument Field, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Alan Cassill. The 28-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Cassill said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Cassill did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Blockbusters.

"Not much that I can say," offered Los Angeles manager John Trausch. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Alan Cassill hit an RBI double in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th.

In this current campaign Cassill is hitting at a .267 clip with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs.
