Eagles Blank Chicago, Nunez Winner
Thursday, August 8th , 1974
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Chicago Traders as starter Pedro Nunez shut them out, 4-0, at Monument Field. The Washington pitcher struck out 4 and walked 0 while allowing 6 hits.
"Nunez was good but he wasn't flawless," Chicago manager Larry Link said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Washington, but this is on us."
In 27 starts this year, Nunez has posted 8 wins while suffering 15 losses. He has pitched 188.1 innings, allowed 205 hits, struck out 98 and has a 3.78 ERA.
