Cincinnati Comes up Empty Against Valerio
Wednesday, June 25th , 1975
Antonio Valerio kept the Cincinnati Packers hitters from doing much damage at Flatbush Park.
Cincinnati could only muster 4 hits and draw 2 walks against the right-handed Valerio, who controlled them throughout the game. Brooklyn won the contest, 7-0. Valerio added 2 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Valerio told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
So far this season, Valerio has a 3-6 record, 14 starts, 93 innings, 50 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA.
