Martinez Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Saturday, July 2nd , 1977 Alex Martinez of the Denver Burros outhit everybody on the field at Union Field, but it was all for naught. Even as Martinez personally tore up the Chicago Traders with a 5-for-7 day, the Traders were sending his Burros down to defeat, 6-5. Alex Martinez hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, singled in the 12th and flied out in the 14th.
