Prentice Twirls Drillers to Shutout Win
Monday, September 4th , 1967
It wasn't easy but the Houston Drillers made it look that way.
Starter Danny Prentice shut out the New York Empires despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Houston Drillers cruised to victory, 5-0. Prentice allowed only 5 hits and rang up 3 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This year Prentice has worked 195.2 innings with 101 strikeouts en route to a 10-12 record and a 3.73 ERA.
