Packers Shut Out Quakers, Quade Winner
Saturday, September 16th , 1967
In a seemingly effortless performance, Joe Quade of the Cincinnati Packers shot down the Philadelphia Quakers 3-0 on a 5-hit shutout.
"Joe was just locating so well and using his pitches," Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Quade recorded 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Philadelphia manager Jeff Green said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
In 25 starts this season Quade has notched a 8-13 record and a 3.25 ERA.
