Dallas Blanked by Stanford, 4-0 Friday, August 19th , 1977 The Dallas Wranglers were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the New York Empires and hurler Larry Stanford. Stanford kept the Wranglers confused all game, spinning a 8-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Stanford," Dallas manager William Albrecht said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 29-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Stanford said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way." This season, Stanford has fanned 114 in 186.1 innings and collected a 12-8 record with a 2.56 ERA.
