Hawks Woods Out Rest Of Season Sunday, August 28th , 1977 The Chicago Hawks were dealt a severe blow when Ron Woods was hurt throwing a pitch recently in a game against the Atlanta Generals. After the game, the team trainer reported Woods might have to spend a lengthy time on the injured list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 27-year-old closer out for the rest of the season with nerve damage in his elbow. They indicated it would take Woods at least 4 months to heal. This season, Woods has 14 saves. In 43 relief appearances he has tossed 116 innings, struck out 119 and issued 48 walks with a 3-10 record. The Chicago reliever has recorded a 3.18 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .275 when he is in the game. |
