MLB News: First-Year Player Draft Thursday, September 1st , 1977 Today's Major League Baseball first-year player draft will produce a new pool of potential all-stars, players with aspirations of one day holding position in the lineup, starting rotation or bullpen. The prime candidates, according to BNN's predictions, includes: 1. Paul Lockwood, 18 year-old RHP out of high-school. 2. Pat Bogart, 21 year-old LHP out of college. 3. Tom Ibsen, 20 year-old LHP out of college. 4. Buddy Edens, 18 year-old RHP out of high-school. 5. John Henson, 21 year-old LHP out of college. 6. Walt Mazzola, 17 year-old RHP out of high-school. 7. John Tyler, 18 year-old CF out of high-school. 8. Herman Santerre, 22 year-old 2B out of college. 9. Jerry Keller, 18 year-old SS out of high-school. 10. Roger Renshaw, 23 year-old 2B out of college. The first five picks go to Milwaukee, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington and Toronto. |
