Robles Smacks 6 Hits for Northmen Sunday, September 11th , 1977 After a 6-hit effort to lead Twin Cities's 8-6 victory over the Los Angeles Pobladores, center fielder Ivan Robles told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Major League Baseball-level is really something special." The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at San Vicente Park with a spectacular 6-for-7 game against the Pobladores. "His swing is getting there," said Northmen skipper Jason Gudim, who spoke glowingly of Robles after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ivan did that to perfection." Ivan Robles singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th. In the current season, Robles has put up a .256 batting average with 53 hits, 3 home runs, 20 runs batted in and scored 24 runs. View Boxscore View Game Log Watch Highlights |
