Stager Shuts Out Seattle, 2-0
Saturday, September 24th , 1977
The Seattle Emeralds were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Dallas Wranglers and hurler Art Stager. Stager kept the Emeralds confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Stager," Seattle manager Mark Velez said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 26-year-old right-hander had 3 walks and 12 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Stager said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To date this season, Stager is 15-6 with 29 starts and an ERA of 3.35 with 98 strikeouts in 177.1 innings.
