Industrials Win Divisional Round
Sunday, October 3rd , 1976
The Pittsburgh Industrials clubhouse was filled with glee and celebration tonight, while the Cleveland Bobcats room was filled with despair and sadness after the Divisional Round concluded.
"Someone's got to win and someone's got to lose, we're just glad we're on the good end of it tonight and can enjoy this," said Jim Shuman, who was named MVP for a strong series of offensive performance.
Pittsburgh won the final game by a 8-1 count at Allegheny Field and the series 4-1.
Cleveland manager Daniel Mays was simple and to-the-point in his assessment of the series.
"They were the better team and deserve to move on," he said.
For the series, Shuman hit .444 with a .545 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Pittsburgh Industrials don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Kansas City Bulls - Denver Burros series. Kansas City leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Round finishes.
