Fonseca Tosses 2-0 Shutout Against Cleveland
Saturday, August 24th , 1974
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Cleveland Bobcats as starter Alex Fonseca shut them out, 2-0, at Monument Field. The Washington pitcher struck out 3 and walked 2 while allowing 10 hits.
"Fonseca was good but he wasn't flawless," Cleveland manager Daniel Mays said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Washington, but this is on us."
This year, Fonseca has compiled a 9-20 mark with a 4.41 ERA.
