Houston Advances to World Series
Friday, October 18th , 1974
The League Championship Series may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Houston Drillers, however, are not complaining.

The Drillers were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Baltimore Lords to advance to the World Series.

Houston won the final game by a 9-1 count at Seton Hill Stadium and the series 4-2.

Drillers third baseman Wade Fields was named series MVP, as he hit .435 with a .480 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 6 runs.

"It's not going to be the last time Baltimore makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Fields said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."

The Houston Drillers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Pittsburgh Industrials - San Diego Captains series. San Diego leads the series 3 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
