Thursday, September 20th , 1973
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Seattle Emeralds as starter Steve Coomes shut them out, 15-0, at Bluff Park. The Dallas pitcher struck out 4 and walked 0 while allowing 4 hits.
"Coomes was good but he wasn't flawless," Seattle manager Mark Velez said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Dallas, but this is on us."
Currently Coomes has a record of 13-15 with 138 strikeouts and 82 walks in 236.1 innings and a 3.54 ERA.
