Partridge Shuts Out Detroit
Friday, June 22nd, 1956
It wasn't easy but Sam Partridge made it look that way.
Partridge silenced the Detroit Wolverines, 1-0, in a Toronto Hurons triumph at Wolverine Field today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Partridge said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up no walks and 3 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
So far this season, Partridge has logged a 6-4 record with a 2.46 ERA. He has started 13 games, hurled 102.1 innings and registered 63 strikeouts and 16 walks.
