5-Hit Blitz by Twin Cities's Shingleton
Sunday, April 9th , 1972
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Buddy Shingleton -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Hyde Park Stadium and paced the 7-1 Northmen win over the Chicago Hawks.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Twin Cities shortstop told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Buddy Shingleton singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
At present, Shingleton is batting .409 and has collected 1 home run, 2 RBIs, .519 OBP and scored 3 runs.
