Lott Muzzles San Diego Offense
Friday, April 23rd , 1976
The San Diego Captains were almost helpless in their 6-0 loss to the St. Louis Explorers and hurler Dick Lott. Lott kept the Captains confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Lott," San Diego manager Joe Mack said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 27-year-old right-hander had no walks and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Lott said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
