Fans at Atlantic Avenue Grounds witnessed the Boston Terriers blank the Atlanta Generals, 3-0 behind a superb effort by starter Bob Schar. The Boston left-hander allowed 6 hits in recording the shutout.

"Bob was good today but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Boston manager Joe Peters said later. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."

To date Schar is 16-5 in 21 starts with a 1.63 ERA and has 149 strikeouts in 171.2 innings.
