Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Detroit Wolverines got the win.

Don Achber could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Baltimore Lords lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Detroit Wolverines at Wolverine Field. Juan Rodriguez, the winner, is now 3-3. He struck out 3 and walked 2 over 6.1 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. Brian Long picked up the save, his 1st.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from third baseman Duane Simmons. For the game, Simmons was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Detroit a 3-2 lead.

Simmons told the Detroit Daily News: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
