Anderson Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Tuesday, May 3rd , 1977 Ron Anderson was smoking all game at the plate, but couldn't finish his day with a victory cigar. After the 26-year-old Boston Terriers left fielder tallied 5 hits in 7 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 6-5 decision to the Chicago Hawks. "That was no fun," Anderson said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win." Ron Anderson singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, singled in the 12th, walked in the 14th and singled in the 16th.
