Lester Superb Against Chicago Thursday, July 29th , 1976 Phil Lester kept the Chicago Hawks hitters from doing much damage at San Vicente Park. Chicago could only muster 8 hits and draw 3 walks against the left-handed Lester, who controlled them throughout the game. Los Angeles won the contest, 1-0. Lester added 4 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Lester told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." Lester has posted a 7-12 record for the year with a 3.21 ERA.
