Generals, Ovitt Silence Chicago, 6-0
Tuesday, August 17th , 1976
In a seemingly effortless performance, Gary Ovitt of the Atlanta Generals shot down the Chicago Hawks, 6-0, on 3 hits.
"Gary was just locating so well and using his pitches," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Ovitt recorded no strikeouts and 4 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Chicago manager Mike Flaherty said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
Ovitt has gone 12-9 this season with an ERA of 2.36 and 115 strikeouts in 205.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .218 against him.
