Seagulls Spank Hawks, 11-0 Sunday, September 3rd , 1972 The Chicago Hawks had no answer for San Francisco Seagulls pitcher Jimmy Trent. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 11-0. Chicago managed only 4 hits off Trent, who had 3 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Trent got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Seagulls fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
